Initially, he started off as an assistant director to Ram Gopal Varma.

In the past, Krishna founded his production home Andhra Talkies.

As a director, he made his debut with his Telugu musical film Gulabi in 1995, starring J. D. Chakravarthy and Maheswari.

He got his first break with the film Ninne Pelladata in 1996, for which he won a National Film Award for “Best Feature Film in Telugu” and Filmfare “Best Director Award (Telugu)”.
